The 'Sinem's bald decision' fundraiser by Sinem Cakir
Yesterday we had approximately 130 guests at Trent Park Golf Club to join in with the fundraising fun and to see me shave my head!
Read on to see just how amazingly successful the event was...
The cake sales, Krispy Kreme donuts, raffles, face painting, nail painting, henna tattoos, head massage, hair quizzes, beat the keeper, table tennis, foosball, salsa dancing, live music, live DJ and raffles raised £712.70.
In seeing me twitch in the hours before shaving my head, guests dug deep and with the help of a £145.50 cheque from The Barber Stop, we received an additional total of £391.50 in sponsorship.
The grand total of funds raised on the 16/05/09 alone, as a result of everybody's efforts and generosity is £1104.20!!
Every single penny will be going directly to YCT due to the venue, the entertainment, the professional services, the poster printing, the local press coverage, the sound system, the prizes and the volunteer helpers all offering their time / products / services free of charge. It would be impossible to calculate the total in-kind contributions that the above would have amounted to if they hadn't been free.
The love, support and atmosphere was awesome!
So far, we have sent 8 young people on a free activity holiday through Youth Cancer Trust!
Well done everyone, what an achievement... totally worth being bald!
