OTHER WAYS TO GIVE

Whatever your situation and whoever you are, there are numerous ways in which you can help the YCT.

Payroll Giving
Most workplaces are equipped with a Payroll giving system whereby you can donate through your pay packet. Perhaps you can give a regular gift or spare the odd pennies from your wages. Either way there is no fuss involved, no cheques or paperwork once the system is set up. Contact your payroll department for more details or contact us and we will speak to your employer on your behalf.

A payroll donation is not only very simple, it is also tax efficient. Payroll giving donations are deducted before tax and so each £1.00 you give will only cost you 78p!!

Sponsor A Child
You can give the gift of an unforgettable holiday at Tracy Ann House to a specific youngster by sponsoring a child. The cost of a five-day break is £400.00 and you will receive a special certificate in return detailing the name of the youngster you have sponsored and comments from our YCT guest book.

If you would like to sponsor a child please telephone 01202 763591 or email us

Corporate Support

As a small charity offering a unique service to young cancer patients in the UK, corporate sponsors of the YCT are not only able to take a vital role in securing the development and continuation of our essential work but are able to immediately see the benefits of their support.

Through corporate sponsorship, employee volunteering, fundraising and donations the possibilities are endless!

Your support, fundraising and boost to awareness of The Youth Cancer Trust could be the reasons we are still here in years to come providing a valuable service for young people with cancer.

For further details on how your company could get involved please contact our fundraising team on 01202 763591 or email us

Employers
Think how corporate responsibility can improve your company morale and image - plus the tax benefits?

Employees
Think how your employers can put their resources to even better use?

Corporate Sponsorship

Without corporate sponsorship, we would not be able to put on many of our annual events due to the unavoidable overheads involved. Corporate sponsorship of our fundraising events means every penny raised goes straight to helping our youngsters.

Your gift is also tax-efficient as you can deduct your donation when calculating your profit at the end of the financial year for corporate tax purposes.

Employee Volunteering
If you are local to the Bournemouth area – we want your manpower! See our volunteering section for more details.

Employee Fundraising
Why not use one of our 3 great challenges as a team building exercise? Or encourage your employees or work colleagues to “think outside the box” and come up with their own fundraising initiative.

Employee Donations
Payroll giving is not only great for the employee but in 2004 the government launched the Payroll Giving Grant for small and medium sized companies.

If you employ less than 500 employees there is a £500 government cash incentive to setting up a payroll giving scheme!

Summer Moonlit 5k Challenge 2006 Sponsored by RIAS

im7

The inaugural moonlit challenge to support the Youth Cancer Trust and Tenovus the cancer charity took place on 27th May. Despite the days in the run up to the event resembling monsoon season, the rain held off for the event and there were even rumours that the moon made an appearance! The evening was a huge success with runners, walkers and wheelchair participants all completing the 5k course along the seafront of Bournemouth. As the pictures show, the emphasis on the evening was on the whole family having fun while raising money for the two charities.

When RIAS was initially approached by the Youth Cancer Trust and Tenovus about getting involved with the event, we were not only keen to find out more about the great work they do, but also the concept behind the Moonlit Challenge. It was evident from the outset that these are really worthwhile and unique charities and we were very enthusiastic about getting involved. As headline sponsors of the event, RIAS has been able to further raise our profile locally and get our staff involved with two very worthwhile and local charities. It has been an enjoyable experience working with both organisations and we are grateful to everyone who took part in the event and made it such a success.

Flight Refuelling Activity Day with the YCT in association with Bournemouth and Poole Cares

A team of employee volunteers from Flight Refuelling Ltd in Wimborne organised and funded a special activity day for a group of youngsters this July to have a day’s airsoft skirmishing (similar to paintball) at Ground Zero, Ringwood. Flight Refuelling apprentices took part in this challenge as part of their membership to Bournemouth and Poole Cares, an initiative of Business in the Community. Bournemouth and Poole Cares is an employee volunteering scheme and brokers engagement between local companies and the local community to create a positive impact. Ruth Donaldson from Bournemouth and Poole Cares said,
“The Youth Cancer Trust is a fantastic charity providing holidays for young people with cancer from all over the country. The team from Flight Refuelling Ltd organised a really special day for the young people which was great fun for all involved.”

Barclays – Fluent in Fundraising

im9 Barclays donate Goody Bags to the youngsters

In 2002 Barclays Payment Services in Poole decided to fundraise for the Youth Cancer Trust and since then their support has gone from strength to strength. In 2003 around £4,500 was raised with the help of the Barclays ‘£ for £’ matching scheme and last year this figure was over £8,000. Fundraising activities have included dress down days, chocolate eating competitions and even an ‘I’m a banker…get me out of here’ day where staff ate a disgusting array of unpleasant foods.

The Staff has also put in a Three Peaks team for the last two years and plans to take part again this year.

As Matt Ferris – Payment Services Community Co-Coordinator says There is a wonderful partnership which has built up over the past couple of years, between Barclays and the Youth Cancer Trust. Our Staff has really taken the charity to their hearts and enjoys making a difference”. And they have. With tidying up the garden, arranging days out

Barclays arranged and funded three days out in 2004 for the youngsters - the last one being a special challenge day with a group of Barclays employees. The Youth Cancer Trust team won the cup - quite rightly - after a day of quasar, bowling and other activities and a trophy was presented to Sean Towers aged 18 after their trip in the Bournemouth Eye. Barclays is one of many companies that help the Trust.

These activity days in particular were the highlight of the youngster’s holiday. They really added to an unforgettable holiday and they returned home more positive as a result”

In 2005 Barclays have completely transformed the Youth Cancer Trust beach hut and have amazed many of our youngsters with the hard work and special touches put in by the individuals concerned.
